Glazed pots and disappointment

A few of the leaves all glazed and ready to sell.

Here are a couple of the small bowls. I am unhappy with the way the glaze turned out. The large bowl is an earlier piece and you can see the nice overlap of glazes. This is a combination that I use regularly, but this time in the smaller bowls it crawled considerably. I am NOT happy. I still have a lot to learn about glaze chemistry and behaviors. I HATE chemistry (the only reason I stuck with it in high school was because it was the good looking teacher's first year...) So when this happens to my standard colors it is really discouraging to me. In fact cleaning the house today felt more satisfying then going to back to the studio!

Fortunately SOME of the bowls are fine....

The brown bowls are lovely! I think the leaves turned out well. Did they turn out the way your first one did?

Hi Elizabeth! Yup, Im happy with the leaves. Sometimes I think glazing can be such a crap shoot. Try and try again!

Fantastic opening photo, Anna!and the leaves look very autumnal. We should talk about our glaze problem.

Thanks Dan. I'll gladly take any pointers you have to offer!

The brown bowls are really pretty. Just look at those and put the others away, can't do anything about the glaze. I'll bet Dan will be able to help.

Sometimes when the kiln is opened we are met with dissappointments!! That "unknown" is always good for a bit of an adrenalin rush. Except when the Uh-Oh's are yours. So sorry about your creeping glaze but as the others have said- the leaves are Fabulous and the brown bowls are great- I am sure that Dan can get to the bottom of the other glaze issue. Look at it this way , you have been suffering from a lack of house cleaning motivation for a while and I'll bet things are sparkling now!! Something good always comes form dissappointment!!!
I have a PRezzie for you!!!!Will you be around LT on Friday???
Hugs!

Your bowls are so great. I bet a big one would make a neat bathroom sink! Thanks for the talk last night and the funny B-day card!
